The procedures for soil and base testing have been diverging for a number of years. As a result, specifying agencies have been requesting a more representative program for each procedure.
ACI has split the existing Aggregate Base Testing Technician certification into two separate programs.
Aggregate Base Testing Technician - AASHTO Standards
Aggregate Base Testing Technician - ASTM Standards
For individuals that require both programs, (for example AASHTO for DOT and ASTM for the ACOE). One program must be completed for written and performance. The second program can be obtained by passing the written exam only.
CMEC will continue as normal and offer the Aggregate Base Testing Technician - AASHTO Standards workshop/review session and exams. ASTM versions can be taken during the AASHTO exam session.
Groups that would like a workshop/review session based on ASTM standards will need to schedule a special exam session with CMEC.
